What GovOfficeKit is
GovOfficeKit is a small, independent collection of general office calculators built for the people who keep offices running β administrators, caseworkers, HR and payroll assistants, finance clerks, and the managers who check their figures. It focuses on the sums that recur in government and back-office work in the UK and US: counting business days against a response deadline, converting a grade salary, prorating leave, and sanity-checking the format of numbers on forms.
The policy line this site is built on
These tools are calculators, not services. To be completely clear:
- No government records. This site holds no records about any person, business, property, or case.
- No database lookups. Nothing you type is searched against anything. There is no database here.
- No official verification. A βvalidβ result means only that a number satisfies a public mathematical pattern β a check digit sums correctly, or a VAT number is the right shape. It can never confirm that a number, document, or person is genuine, registered, or entitled to anything. Only the issuing authority can do that.
- No affiliation. GovOfficeKit is not part of, endorsed by, or connected to any government, agency, council, department, or public body, in any country.
How the tools work
Every method used is standard and published: weekend and public-holiday arithmetic (using the standard published 2026 US federal and England & Wales bank holiday dates), the public Luhn, ISBN, EAN and UPC check-digit algorithms, published VAT and EIN format patterns, ordinary payroll divisors, and the standard HR pro-rata formula. Each tool page shows its formula so you can check the working, not just the answer.
Private by design
All calculations run entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, logged, or shared β there are no accounts and no analytics. Close the tab and the numbers you typed are gone.
